This increase in forest cover was achieved by the local land managers, with the assistance of the Otway Agroforestry Network (OAN). A community based agroforestry network, OAN was set up by with government support in 1993, to assist land managers to design and manage multi purpose forests that best match their own social, environmental and economic interests. The booklet also provides an excellent example of how a community can effectively measure the ‘footprint’ of its activity.
